Photo BURST Android App Review

The Photo BURST Android App by androidslide is a feature packed photo gallery application for the Android. You will need to download the free version which is the launcher first, then you can purchase Photo BURST Pro to unlock all of the Pro features. When the app first loads it will index all of your images on your phone so that you can use them in the app. Next you will need to select a picture folder from your phone or you can select a picture folder from your SD card. Once you select a folder a gallery of your images will appear. You can browse through the gallery by using your finger on the display screen or you can use the track ball. To select an image simply tap the image with your finger on the display screen.

Once your image is loaded you can do a double tap on the display screen to get the zoom feature to appear allowing you to zoom in and zoom out of the picture. If you press the Menu button on your phone you will see 8 menu options. The Slideshow button will basically turn your phone into a digital picture frame which is a really cool feature. The Share button allows you to send an image via GMail, Messaging or Picasa. The Upload button allows you to upload an image to a Ping.Fm account. If you do not have an account you can set up a Ping.Fm account right from the app. The Wallpaper button allows you to crop a part of an image or to highlight the entire image to use as your wallpaper. To expand or shrink the yellow crop box touch the box line with your finger on the display screen and arrow buttons will appear allowing you to expand or shrink the crop box. When you are done press Save and the image will appear as your Wallpaper. The Crop button allows you to crop an image. The Details button gives you all kinds of information from the file name to the date taken to the resolution of the image. The Settings button gives you all kinds of options for viewing and sharing your images. The Help button is a very extensive instructional guide for the app. Pretty much anything that you would want or need to know you can find in the Help menu. Navigating through the app is very easy and the transitions between images, features, etc. are very smooth and very well done.

Overall, the Photo BURST Android App is a very well thought out; well put together photo gallery for the Android. Honestly, I’d expect nothing less from androidslide. If you have not yet downloaded Camera ZOOM you will see what I’m talking about. At the time of this review the Photo BURST Android App launcher is free and the Photo BURST Android App Pro is £1.29. Well done adroidslide, Highest Seal of Approval.

Has anybody tried this with large number of photos? I have > 8000 photos on the Galaxy S and next to this blasted thing trying to index them for about 30 min every time I start it (and never completing) I have not seen anything else on it.

Test before release (test is NOT 10 pics in a folder) – What if someone has 32GB SD full of images?

    Uninstalling.
