HTC…The Unlocked Boot Loader!

HTC has grown to become one of the most popular manufacturers of smart phones. They cover all the bases and while many of their phones are extremely similar there is just enough of variance in the hardware to make you think twice. Sense, which the functional skin HTC lays over the Android platform was good in theory, but is massively slow when the software is actually run in a real environment. Nonetheless, sense does add some useful widgets, functional designs and nice transition animations (especially in Sense 3.0).
Great, now you know every single detail about HTC (really what more do you need to know?) we can discuss the open boot loader policy that was just enacted by HTC. That policy was the announcement that all future boot loaders will be unlocked. The boot loader when locked will prevent users from flashing custom ROMs. It will not, in most cases, prevent rooting. However, the root may not be permanent, or if it is you still will not be able to flash ROMs. If you are wondering why this is such a big deal it is because of the development community. They pushed and pushed and HTC responded with this announcement to unlock the boot loaders. Even though HTC is taking their sweet time, it is a step in the right direction for a completely open Android platform. I applaud those who took part in making this happen!
Keep checking forums and HTC’s Facebook page for updates as to when the specific software to unlock the boot loader will be released!

I’m sorry, but this article is disappointing. Aside from not sharing anything really new…the title of the article is a bit misleading. I began reading it with the thought that it was an announcement for new or on the verge of released bootloaders, unlocked of course. Sadness.
Im sorry if you felt that way, this article was meant to inform those who do not know about the boot loader being unlocked already.
