Amazon Appstore for Android Review

Amazon Appstore for Android Review is now live. You can purchase apps right from the website or from the official Amazon Appstore for Android App. Here’s how it works, you browse their web based store and click on an app you would like to purchase. Each app has it’s own webpage with information on the app as well as screen shots. In the top right hand corner you will find a green box that says “Get this app” with a box to enter your phone number or email address. Once you have entered your phone number or email address you will receive a text or email with a link to download the app store.

In order to download the app store you will need to have your download from unknown source option enabled in the settings of your device. If you on’t have this enabled already the app will prompt you to do so. Once the app store is downloaded and installed you will need to log in with your amazon username and password. Once you log in the app you have selected will appear and be available for you to download and install. You can also download apps right from the app store app once you have it downloaded and installed.

Overall, the prices for the apps appear to be the same as the prices in the Android Market and a few are priced a little bit lower than the Android Market. Also, like the Android Market you have 2 ways to browse and download apps right to your Android device, by web and app. One advantage for using the Amazon Appstore for Android is that you get one paid app for free everyday. Currently the Amazon Appstore for Android is only available on certain cell phone provider’s networks and in certain regions. This app store has potential but currently due to it’s lack of availability there seems to be no reason to drop the Android Market or any other app store for Android for Amazon just yet.
