The Handcent SMS Android App by handcent_admin lets you customize your SMS and MMS feature on your Android device. The new features this app gives you with SMS and MMS just for messages are:

• The ability to send group messages
• Speech to text instead of typing your text messages and SMS Popup with quick reply so that you do not have to exit whatever other application or web browser that you are using when you receive a message.
• The app can read you your text messages.

The app gives you the ability to customize the background of your text for each of your contacts, the color of the text for your text and your contact’s text and the ability to change the theme. There is even an iPhone custom style theme for the text part of your messages to make it look like the iPhone text message screen does. You can change the fonts of your text as well and there are quite a few different font packs that you can download from the Android Market. In addition to the many settings options this app gives you there is an option for customizing your notifications. You can also keep track of the number of text messages you have next to each text message there is a number of how many text messages you have had between you and that particular contact. There is also a total number of text messages that you can see. From the More tab which you can access by pressing the menu button on your Android device and then the more option you can check delivery reports and undelivered messages.

Overall, this is an excellent app for customizing your SMS and MMS feature on your Android device. At the time of this review the Handcent SMS Android App is free. Thumbs Up.
