WhatsApp Messenger Android App Review

The WhatsApp Messenger Android App by WhatsApp Inc. allows you to chat with your friends and family who have an iPhone, BlackBerry or Nokia phone right from your Android phone. In order to send messages each person needs to have the app installed on their phone. The app uses either WiFi or 3G to send messages similar to BBM for BlackBerry. This service is free for the first year and then you will need to pay a subscription fee.
The fee might be a turn off for some people as it does not really make sense unless the subscription fee is cheaper than your cell phone provider’s unlimited text plan. Another thing to note is that there are plenty of other apps in the Market that allow you to chat across many different instant messaging platforms for free. With this app you can transfer files where most other messengers may not have the ability to.
Overall, this app is a good idea however with so many other messaging apps out there it might be difficult to sell a subscription fee rather than just a 1 time download fee. At the time of this review the WhatsApp Messenger Android App is free.
