How did you get into developing apps?
Yellow Pages Directory:
The applications we develop are really just an extension of our core business. Our sister company is Yellow Pages Directory, so with the right vision, investment backing, and understanding of how smartphone technology will continue to change everyone’s lives and how we interact with technology, it just made sense to expand into the smartphone mobile marketplace.

What was your inspiration for developing this app?
Yellow Pages Directory:
This is where our generation, and future generations will search for local information. There is no longer a need to carry around a clunky phone book or have access to a computer. Everything is at the palm of your hands, and available in an instant. We’ve reinvented Yellow Pages.

How long did it take to develop the app?
Yellow Pages Directory:
Several months, though the core functionality was created over two years ago, and creating the Android shell around it also took several months, more so for testing because Android includes several different phones, screen sizes, functionality, etc. Improvements are made daily so it’s still an ongoing project.

In your opinion, what is the app’s best feature?
Yellow Pages Directory:
We love the speech recognition abilities of our Android app. A user can simply speak “Taxi” to search for a taxi in their current location or they can customize their search location by saying “Taxi in San Francisco California.” All the relevant results are then sorted by distance from the user (within a few feet). We also map driving directions of our users from where they are to the business they are searching, with an option to give them turn-by-turn GPS-enabled directions.

Do you have any future plans for this app?
Yellow Pages Directory:
On the user end: We will tie in all three of our Yellow Pages apps (Facebook, Android, iPhone/iPod/iPad) socially through Facebook, Twitter, etc.
On the advertiser end: A more robust Pay-Per-Call and Pay-Per-Click system where our advertisers only pay for hyper-local and relevant traffic that generate sales.
