How did you get into developing apps?
mippin.com:
I started developing mobile applications when I joined T-Mobile’s Innovations Team back in 2003. We were initially working with MIDP1 Java and Symbian v2, trying to push what at the time we called ‘the art of the possible’.

What was your inspiration for developing this app?
mippin.com:
Mobile content delivery and content snacking is something we’ve always been passionate about at Mippin. Buzz Deck is our latest product and it brings together all our experience from mobile apps, widgets and the mobile Internet. Content is aggregated together from over 1,200 sources and displayed based on popularity. Google’s ADC2 competition also gave us a little extra motive, Buzz Deck is now in the final round, so fingers crossed. You can also find more out about Buzz Deck at http://mippin.com/buzzdeck

How long did it take to develop the app?
mippin.com:
We initally assigned 2 people (1 dev, 1 graphics) for 3 weeks to Buzz Deck and we did get the inital version live and submitted to ADC2 in that time. However since then we’ve spent another week or two on enhancements and also had an iPhone version comissioned.

Are there any hidden features to the app?
mippin.com:
Not really, the global settings allow a user to specify beckground update periods and there is a card at the bottom of the catalog which allows a user to add ‘any website’ into their deck.

Do you have any future plans for this app?
mippin.com:
Definitely, most importantly and most requested is the addition of a home screen widget. We’ve done quite a few of these in the past including Tech Buzz and Gaming Buzz. With Buzz Deck we want to bring another dimension allowing the user to interact more with the widget and access as much of the content as possible whilst still remaining clean and simple.

Do you plan to develop any new apps? If so when can we expect to see them in the Market?
mippin.com:
There is no doubt that we will develop more Android apps, Android development is so rapid and enjoyable. Unusually though we don’t have any more Android apps lined up right now, Buzz Deck features are still top of the queue.
