Gmail Unread Android App Review

unread gmail widget icon

The Unread Gmail Android App by Warren Miller is a GMail widget for the Android that displays the number of unread e-mails in your GMail account. Once you have downloaded and installed the app simply find an empty area on one of your screen and press and hold your finger on the display screen until a menu appears then you can release your finger from the display screen. From the menu select the Widgets option and then select the GMail Unread widget.

The widget will now appear on your screen. When I first installed it the notifcation box had “…” instead of a number, to fix this I simply open the widget which will take you to your GMail inbox and then press the back button to get back to your screen with the widget on it. The notification box should now display the correct number of unread e-mails in your GMail inbox. The developer needs to fix the issue that when you receive a new e-mail the notification box does not automatically update. I also had another issue where once I got the number to appear for the first time it did not update since then, not even after I refreshed my inbox from the menu.

Overall, this app would be great if it actually worked properly, it definitely has potential though. At the time of this review the  Gmail Unread Android App is £0.50. Needs Some Work.
