How did you get into developing apps?

WB Games:

A coworker was talking a lot about iPhone development. It seemed interesting, but unattractive for several reasons. Then I found out about Android. I’ve always loved programming (especially games), graphics and fiddling with gadgets. When I realized the opportunity to do all three at once, I took the plunge.

What was your inspiration for developing this app?

WB Games:

I love playing Scorched Earth-based games like Worms and Pocket Tanks. I wasted a lot of hours during college playing Worms. There’s something really satisfying about landing a good shot. When I saw that there weren’t any games like that for the Android platform, I decided to write one.

How long did it take to develop the app?

WB Games:

This was my first real app, so there was a lot of learning involved. It took about two months to get Goobers Vs Boogers working and relatively bug free and another six weeks to get it running fast enough to be enjoyable.

Are there any hidden features to the app?

WB Games:

Not yet.

Do you have any future plans for this app?

WB Games:

I have several smaller features I would like to add. The largest limitation so far has been performance, and it is likely to limit which features I can add. My to-do list includes limited ammunition, healing crates, and more weapons. I would like to make larger maps that extend beyond the screen, but the memory limitations of the G1 probably won’t allow it. Also, I would love to make online, head-to-head play available, but that is a very large undertaking. It could be worth it, though.

Do you plan to develop any new apps? If so when can we expect to see them in the Market?

WB Games:

Most definitely, Yes! I just finished the initial release of Wiki Wiki Tiki Drop and uploaded it to the Market. I also have two other applications in various stages of completion and long list of apps I’d like to write after that.
