CardioTrainer Android App Review

The CardioTrainer Android App by WorkSmart Labs, Inc. is a fitness training app for the Android. This app features real-time pedometer-guided GPS and also records your path, climb, pace and calories. You also track your progress by racing against your previous tracks.

When the app first loads you are given the option to take a tutorial on how to use the app. There is a YouTube video as well as written instructions and screen shots. Basically, you select wither Record a Track or Race Against Yourself from the Workout Tab menu. Like other applications similar to this one, in order for the GPS to work you need to be outside with a clear sky in order for the GPS to find your location. The good thing about this app is that you can still use it indoors and track your pace and calories.

Your workouts are tracked using the Android’s GPS and they are automatically uploaded online to WorkSmart Labs, Inc. servers (and Facebook). On their website you can view various statistics of your workouts. Because looking at the screen while running can be tricky WorkSmart Labs, Inc. created a whole range of voice output options that will update you on your progress.

Overall, this is a great personal fitness training app. At the time of this review the CardioTrainer Android App is free. If you want the Racing Module to have the ability to race against your previous tracks it is $2.99. Thumbs up.

I have this app and absolutely LOVE it, it pauses when you do, can be metric or imperial measure, and keeps track of your moving workouts. The free version is a MUST have, and you can add functionality with low cost.
